THE IMPORTANCE OF Recording Dreams
Noting and recording dreams is so important. I was reminded of this vividly last night.
I woke from a dream in which I was travelling in a vehicle, moving past a vast sea of coins scattered everywhere. I was explaining that these were old forms of Australian currency — pounds, shillings, and pence. In the dream, I singled out the one-shilling coin as being especially significant. On one face of the coin was a ram’s head.
At first, I dismissed it as nothing more than a quirky dream. But as the morning unfolded, its symbolism began to reveal itself. The ram’s head suddenly felt meaningful. Neptune has just transited into Aries, and it felt as though something was speaking to me through this imagery.
In astrology, Neptune is the primary planet associated with dreams, the subconscious, intuition, and spirituality. As the planet of imagination and illusion and at times confusion or escapism, Neptune shapes the symbolic, ethereal, and often vivid nature of our dream experiences. With Neptune newly in Aries, these dream messages can feel more urgent, symbolic, and infused with personal imagery.
With Saturn also due to move into Aries on February 14, 2026, I decided to dig deeper into the possible relevance of this dream.
Decimal currency was introduced in Australia on February 14, 1966 exactly sixty years before Saturn’s upcoming ingress into Aries on February 14, 2026. Could Australia’s currency change again? The transits of 1966 were positively activating Australia’s Swearing-In chart (countries have charts too), marking a significant national shift. So why was I dreaming of shilling coins, and why one bearing a ram’s head? Curiouser and curiouser.
The ram’s head on the Australian shilling symbolized the vital importance of the wool industry to the nation’s prosperity. It represented Australia’s agricultural backbone, highlighting the high-quality Merino wool that helped shape the country’s economic foundations. Australia is often said to have been “built on the sheep’s back,” a phrase rooted in history. The story began in 1796, when John Macarthur, in New South Wales, purchased his first Merino sheep from a flock of Spanish Merinos reared in South Africa. While sheep had already been brought to Australia by early European settlers, they were raised primarily for meat. The Merino marked the true beginning of the wool industry.
As an aside, the current Australian $50 note features David Unaipon, the Aboriginal inventor and author. In the background behind his portrait is a depiction of his patented sheep- shearing invention, the mechanical handpiece, yet notably, no sheep appear.
Perhaps the dream also carried a personal layer as well as an intuitive understanding of the changing nature of the sheep industry in Australia. I have strong childhood memories of sheep and of a time when the sheep industry was booming. We even had sheep for a time on our hobby farm. And with Saturn and Neptune both moving through Aries, the sheep industry itself is indeed poised for change. As of early 2026, the Australian sheep sector is transitioning from a period of record-high production and low prices into a rebuilding phase, marked by tighter supply, rising saleyard prices, and a renewed focus on long-term sustainability. Australia appears to be entering a gradual rebuilding cycle from 2026 onward. This is a process that feels deeply symbolic of Saturn and Neptune moving together through the sign of the ram.
So how do we interpret our dreams, or understand their true significance? Sometimes we have to wait for the larger picture to emerge. Saturn and Neptune have yet to fully combine their energies at zero degrees of Aries, which they do on February 21. Until then, the meaning may still be unfolding and we can all benefit by tuning into our personal dreaming states.
