The Truth Untamed

BLACK MOON LILITH IN SAGITTARIUS:

Black Moon Lilith moves from Scorpio into Sagittarius on 18 September 2026, subtly shifting the undercurrents of our emotional world and bringing questions of truth, belief and personal freedom to the surface.
In astrology, Black Moon Lilith is not a physical planet, asteroid or celestial body. It is a mathematical point in space associated with the Moon’s apogee — the point in its orbit where it is farthest from Earth. For this reason, not all astrologers choose to work with Lilith, but for those who do, she can add another fascinating layer to the astrological picture.

Lilith takes approximately nine years to complete a journey through the zodiac, spending around nine months in each sign. She was last travelling through Sagittarius in 2017, so it can be interesting to think back to that period and consider what was happening in your life, particularly around your beliefs, freedom and desire to explore beyond familiar territory.

Who is Lilith?

Lilith is often described as the mythic first wife of Adam, a woman who refused to submit to him and chose exile rather than surrender her independence. It is worth noting, however, that this story does not appear in the canonical Bible. The version of Lilith as Adam’s first wife emerged much later in medieval Jewish folklore.
Nevertheless, the symbolism is powerful.
Astrologically, Lilith has become associated with the parts of ourselves that refuse to be controlled or silenced. She can represent our shadow self, repressed desires and primal instincts, but also the place where we are unwilling to conform simply because someone tells us that we should.
Lilith asks: Where have you given away your power, and what happens when you decide to reclaim it? Lilith Meets Sagittarius
Sagittarius is the zodiac sign associated with broadening our horizons. It rules philosophy, morality, higher education, foreign cultures, long-distance travel, religion, spirituality and, perhaps most importantly, our search for truth and meaning.
So what happens when rebellious Lilith enters this freedom-loving sign?
We may become far less willing to accept someone else’s version of the truth.
Over the coming months, questions surrounding freedom of speech, censorship, religion and ideology could become increasingly important. You may find yourself rebelling against anyone who attempts to preach a particular credo or insists that their beliefs are the only correct ones.
There is something wonderfully liberating about questioning what you have previously been told to believe. Lilith in Sagittarius can encourage you to examine inherited beliefs, challenge outdated ideas and decide for yourself what feels true.
But there is another side to this transit.
Sagittarius can sometimes become so convinced of its own truth that it forgets other people are entitled to theirs. Lilith can intensify this tendency. The rebel who refuses to be judged can very quickly become the person doing the judging.
That is the paradox of Lilith in Sagittarius.

You may fear being condemned for what you believe while simultaneously needing to be careful not to condemn others for believing differently.
Wherever Sagittarius falls in your birth chart may therefore reveal an area in which questions of judgement, freedom and authenticity arise during this transit. You may feel challenged to speak your truth, but also to recognise the difference between expressing your beliefs and imposing them on somebody else.

On the World Stage

On a global level, Lilith’s journey through Sagittarius could bring renewed attention to the intersection of religion, politics, ideology and freedom.
There may be periods when governments, institutions or influential groups attempt to introduce rules or policies based on religious or moral beliefs. Religious tensions may flare, particularly where communities feel that their traditions, beliefs or freedoms are being threatened.

At the same time, Lilith is rarely comfortable remaining silent.

We may also see strong pushback from minorities or groups who feel marginalised, judged or excluded because of what they believe or because they refuse to conform to the beliefs of the majority.

This does not necessarily mean that one side is right and another is wrong. Sagittarius itself reminds us that truth can look very different depending on where we are standing.
Perhaps that is one of the most important lessons of this transit.

Lilith in Sagittarius asks us to question what we believe, understand why we believe it and have the courage to seek our own truth without denying somebody else the freedom to seek theirs.
