Venus, the planet intricately linked with love and money, is going Retrograde in Scorpio and Libra, resurrecting unfinished business in these two areas of life.
What is so special about Venus Retrograde? After all, she goes Retrograde approximately every 18 months.
Venus is a rather magical planet, not only because she is the only ancient planet named after a female goddess. Venus follows a beautiful pattern, tracing a five-pointed star across the zodiac and returning to almost the exact same zodiac signs every eight years.
Venus has been retrograding in Scorpio as part of this repeating eight-year cosmic cycle for centuries. Because the cycle is not quite exact, shifting backwards by a little more than two degrees every eight years, the pattern gradually moves through the zodiac over generations.
If you look up at the night sky at the moment, you can see Venus in all her beauty, shining brightly. And if you look at your Birth
Chart, you can see which area of your life she has been highlighting.
Even so, Venus Retrograding through Scorpio and then Libra is likely to turn your attention towards your relationship with love and money. Scorpio is strongly linked with shared resources, intimacy and trust, while Libra is associated with relationships, balance and partnership.
Her shadow period started in August, and so you may already have noticed issues arising in these areas. Her exact Retrograde in Scorpio starts on October 3, and she turns Direct on November 14. During that time, however, she moves back into Libra. Her shadow period continues until she reaches her original point of departure on December 16 (AEDT).
These are useful reference points when reflecting on your relationship with money and love, as well as the areas of your life being highlighted in your Birth Chart.
Do you have unresolved issues in your relationships? Do you have toxic relationships that have subtly developed over time? Are there subconscious beliefs about money that are adversely affecting your financial health?
Think back eight years, and even further if you like – 2018, 2010, 2002, 1994, 1986 and so on. What was happening then? Are any patterns repeating?
Anyone born with Venus in Scorpio is likely to value intense loyalty and honesty. These people respect privacy and yet abhor dishonesty in their close relationships. They are the people you want by your side in a crisis. Conversely, they are not likely to stick around if they feel deeply deceived.

On a communal level, this Retrograde may coincide with renewed attention to issues involving relationships, sexuality, power and money. We may find ourselves revisiting questions about what constitutes healthy relationships, where power lies, and what needs to change.
During the 2018 Venus Retrograde cycle, for instance, the world was still grappling with the legal, professional and cultural repercussions of the #MeToo movement, with previously hidden or tolerated behaviours in corporate, entertainment and political spheres receiving intense scrutiny.
Venus Retrograde reminds us that sometimes we need to go back before we can move forward. Old relationships, old wounds, old financial patterns and old values may return for another look.
The question is not necessarily whether the past comes back.
